where in the world is delilah piper? (a draft)

{rainbow connection}

she's twenty now.
delilah, i mean.

she's twenty and she thinks about how she's wanted glow in the dark stars on her ceiling since she was twelve.
about paper planes, about distant dreams, about identity
about painting again

it rained today and i just stood and took in the sound
in the feeling of damp water on my skin
of soft grass beneath my feet
i love the rain

who is delilah piper?
who is she really?
a lot has changed since she turned eighteen.

delilah is busy.
distracted.
there's barely enough time for her to breathe
there's always another customer to serve, an assignment to finish, a game to play or a moment to be had.
for a long time, she thought she was fixing things
but now she's wondering whether she was just running away.

it is so important to spend time alone with yourself.

one day i'll write the letter i always needed.

one day you'll understand.

delilah doesn't want anyone to be left to read this.
it's like speaking to an empty graveyard, filled with naught but old bones and ancient trees
speaking into the wind, words like ashes.
she's visited this place time after time, but never found what she wanted to say.

but now it's time to take a breath.
to retreat somewhere quiet.
to come home.
{whether to this blog or another one}
